French overclocker kikoone31 has set three world records in the AMD Ryzen 5 1600 processor category, using a 14-nanometer chip.
Since late November last year, enthusiasts started noticing some unusual Ryzen 5 1600 processor samples. To the community's surprise, these chips weren't based on the usual 14-nanometer Summit Ridge cores, but rather on the newer 12-nanometer Pinnacle Ridge.
While replacing a 14nm die with a 12nm one was a clear win for most users, it created a contentious situation for competitive overclockers. This discrepancy could easily spark disputes and unnecessary debates, especially since 12-nanometer cores generally hit higher frequencies when overclocked compared to their 14-nanometer counterparts, leading to better benchmark scores.
However, the HWBot platform developers quickly addressed this loophole. Now, when submitting results for a 6-core, 12-thread AMD Ryzen 5 1600 processor, enthusiasts must specify whether it's built on a 14nm or 12nm core.
⤢ ВІДКРИТИToday's impressive results were achieved using a 14-nanometer Ryzen 5 1600 chip. French overclocker under the alias kikoone31 managed to get his hands on a particularly strong sample of this CPU, setting three new records in the AMD Ryzen 5 1600 category:
The Frenchman's first gold came in Cinebench R15, where he scored 1846 points:
⤢ ВІДКРИТИThe chip frequency during this run was 5248MHz.
⤢ ВІДКРИТИHis second gold was a first-place finish in the GPUPI For CPU benchmark, with a time of 2 minutes, 58 seconds, and 510 milliseconds:
⤢ ВІДКРИТИThe processor ran at the same 5248MHz as it did for Cinebench R15.
⤢ ВІДКРИТИFinally, kikoone31 secured his last record for the day in Geekbench3 - Multi Core, posting a score of 34808 points:
⤢ ВІДКРИТИOnly in this run did the Ryzen 5 1600's frequency surpass the previous 5248MHz, reaching 5271MHz.
⤢ ВІДКРИТИkikoone31's test bench included the following components:
Motherboard - ASUS ROG Crosshair VII Hero
RAM - 2x 8GB Kingstone KHX4000C19D4/8GX
Power supply - MasterWatt Maker 1500W
⤢ ВІДКРИТИThe French enthusiast did not specify the rest of his hardware.
