Intel is phasing out its 8th-gen Core processor lineup, as the 10th generation already offers superior alternatives. Existing warranties for these chips will remain unchanged.
This move is perfectly logical. The new LGA 1200 platform now covers every segment previously occupied by 8th-gen Core processors. Even the once-flagship Core i7-8700K (6 cores, 12 threads) has a successor in the more affordable and slightly faster Core i5-10600K (6 cores, 12 threads).
More broadly, every segment of Intel's 10th-gen CPU lineup — from i3 to i9 — now features a processor that noticeably surpasses its 8th-gen, and occasionally even its 9th-gen, equivalent.
Here's the full list of all discontinued 8th-gen processors:
It's crucial to understand that Intel's decision won't affect the warranty for existing 8th-gen Core chips, nor for any new 8th-gen processors purchased after their production officially ends.
