Reddit user FR33_L35T3R bought an Intel Core i9-9900KS for €589, successfully overclocked it to 5.2 GHz, and put it through some benchmarks.
A user on the popular Reddit platform has shared some intriguing posts detailing a unique purchase.
FR33_L35T3R (the lucky user's handle) claims they easily purchased an Intel Core i9-9900KS processor from a Czech retailer for €589 ($530).
FR33_L35T3R got the i9-9900KS running on an ASUS ROG Maximus XI Hero motherboard and immediately started testing his new acquisition.
In a Prime95 stability test, the processor hit 83 degrees Celsius at stock clocks. After an overclock to 5200 MHz, temperatures climbed above 95 degrees. A Noctua NH-D15 cooler handled the cooling. This is a solid result, especially if it's a true retail sample.
For subsequent tests, FR33_L35T3R settled on an overclock of 5200 MHz, with 1.32 volts and an AVX offset of 5.
With these settings, the Intel Core i9-9900KS scored 5356 points in Cinebench R20:

The Intel Core i9-9900KS will feature the same 8 cores and 16 threads as its predecessor, the Core i9-9900K. However, the new chip's key differentiator is that all 8 cores will be able to hit a 5000 MHz boost clock.
The Core i9-9900KS is expected to launch this month, though Intel has yet to announce an official release date.
