Eisbaer798 sets new Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 records

German overclocker Eisbaer798 has snagged two gold medals in the Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 category, a once-popular dual-core CPU. Using liquid nitrogen to cool the chip to -125°C under load (and -130°C at idle), he pushed it to an impressive 6035MHz for the venerable Cinebench - 2003 benchmark and 5934MHz for the relatively modern Cinebench - R11.5.

Benchmarks and results:

The overclocker's test bench consisted of the following components:

• Motherboard - ASUS P5E3 Premium (Intel X48 chipset). Its main and crucial advantage is DDR3 RAM support, which greatly simplifies overclocking LGA 775 chips.

• RAM - ADATA Plus+ DDR3 2x 2GB sticks with CL6.0 7-6-18 6T timings

• Graphics card - Zotac GeForce GT 220 DDR3 (GT216)

• Storage - Samsung 850 EVO 256GB (MGX controller)

• Power supply - Enermax Revolution87+ 650 watts
