A leaked photo of an AMD Radeon RX 6800XT prototype gives us a closer look at the graphics card's PCB and power delivery design.
Just a few hours ago, a photo surfaced online showing what appears to be an engineering sample of the Navi 21-based AMD Radeon RX 6800XT graphics card.
The image below was briefly posted on Twitter before the author quickly deleted it. Fortunately, some quick-fingered enthusiasts managed to save the photo:
⤢ ВІДКРИТИSince this design hasn't appeared in previous leaks, we are likely looking at the reference PCB for the Radeon RX 6800XT. This card is clearly a prototype. The memory modules aren't soldered on yet, though the VRM components are in place and covered by fairly beefy heatsinks.
That said, we can't rule out that this is a custom board design for either the Radeon RX 6800XT (Navi 21 XT) or RX 6800 (Navi 21 XL) from one of AMD's board partners.
Interestingly, the VRM layout is quite similar to the design of the GeForce RTX 3080 and 3090:
⤢ ВІДКРИТИThis suggests that the Radeon RX 6800XT's power consumption could easily top 250 watts.
As a reminder, AMD is set to announce its Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards on October 28.
