AMD launched new Ryzen 3 3100 and 3300X chips (4 cores/8 threads, Zen 2) starting at $99, plus the B550 chipset with PCIe 4.0 support.
Today, AMD officially announced two 4-core, 8-thread Ryzen 3 3000 series processors and the B550 chipset. Both CPUs are expected to launch in May, with new B550-based motherboards arriving in June.
The Ryzen 3 3300X chip features four cores and eight threads, based on the Zen 2 architecture. Its base clock speed is 3800MHz, and it can automatically boost up to 4300MHz.
Beyond its new architecture, the Ryzen 3 3300X processor boasts a substantial 18MB of total cache, an 80% increase over the 10MB found on the Ryzen 3 2300X. Additionally, the Ryzen 3 3300X features a remarkably low 65W TDP. This new chip is expected to be available from May 21, 2020, priced at $120.
Its younger sibling, the Ryzen 3 3100, retains both the 4-core/8-thread CPU configuration and the 18MB cache design. However, it sees a slight reduction in clock speeds: a 3600MHz base clock and a 3900MHz boost clock. The Ryzen 3 3100 also shares the same 65W TDP as its elder brother. Nevertheless, its pricing is significantly more aggressive, coming in at $99 compared to $120.
Like the Ryzen 3 3300X, the Ryzen 3 3100 will also be available starting May 21, 2020.
Finally, AMD revealed that affordable B550 chipset motherboards are expected in June 2020. These new boards aim to bring the increasingly popular PCIe 4.0 interface to the budget segment of the market.
