French overclocker The Silver used liquid nitrogen to push a 5-core Phenom II X4 960T BE to 6.4 GHz, securing multiple records in the process.
For eight months, French overclocker The Silver was absent from the front page of the HWBot database. His last major achievements were six records in the 3-core category set using an unlocked dual-core AMD Phenom II X2 560 BE. As you probably guessed from the headline, he used a familiar core-unlocking trick once again to climb to the top of the 5-core rankings.
In practice, the 5-core category is essentially a playground for owners of AMD Phenom II chips based on 6-core dies with two disabled cores. The image below perfectly illustrates the state of competition in this ranking:
⤢ ВІДКРИТИBut let's get straight to the results. Using liquid nitrogen, The Silver pushed the five active cores of his Phenom II X4 960T BE to ~6400 MHz and completed the following suite of benchmarks:
Benchmark: | Result: | CPU frequency: | RAM frequency: | RAM timings: |
15341 points | 6371 MHz | 1758 MHz | 6-6-6-18-18 1T
10min 26sec 92ms | 6401.7 MHz | 1765.8 MHz | 6-6-6-18-18 1T
4sec 515ms | 6430 MHz | 1811.8 MHz | 6-6-6-18-18 1T
2min 24sec 219ms | 6377 MHz | 1836.2 MHz | 6-6-6-18-18 1T |
Unfortunately, the French overclocker did not share a detailed specs list. The Silver only mentioned his motherboard, the ASUS ROG Crosshair IV Formula, which has also been used in his previous benching sessions.
