⤢ ВІДКРИТИThe Kazakh overclocker achieved this impressive result using a phase-change cooling system, a heavily modified ASUS Rampage Extreme motherboard, and, of course, extensive experience in overclocking and tuning the LGA 775 platform.
⤢ ВІДКРИТИThe accompanying photo reveals the test board underwent truly serious modifications:
⤢ ВІДКРИТИBeyond the typical chipset cooling modifications, TerraRaptor at minimum desoldered several controllers — audio, network, and likely SATA — then filled the empty pads with insulating lacquer.
According to the enthusiast, this was done because the SATA devices were throwing errors and likely hindering the overclock. Below is his comment regarding the motherboard photo:
Here’s a photo of the chips that can be safely removed (I did this to combat strange SATA errors).
Unfortunately, the overclocker did not specify the power supply or storage device used for the tests.
