American overclocker Splave has broken his own AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT overclocking record, using liquid nitrogen to reclaim the top spot.
Just a few days ago, on December 30, we covered several records set by US overclocker Splave. At the time, he claimed two impressive results in the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT category. However, enthusiasts rarely rest on their laurels, and Splave has already managed to beat his own scores:
While during his previous benchmarking session the graphics card settled for a relatively "modest" ~2700 MHz core clock and ~17000 MHz GDDR6 memory, this time the overclocker pushed the Radeon RX 6900 XT much harder, hitting 2850/17040 MHz. Interestingly, he actually downclocked the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X CPU from 5200 MHz to 4800 MHz, though he didn't explain why.
Both the GPU and CPU were cooled with separate liquid nitrogen pots. This setup scored 17,775 points in the 3DMark Fire Strike Ultra benchmark:
The run secured first place in the Radeon RX 6900 XT rankings, as well as the gold cup among all single-GPU configurations.
The test bench consisted of the following components:
Motherboard - ASRock X570 Taichi;
Memory pot - 8ECC Raptor IV;
Thermal paste - Thermal Grizzly Kryo Extreme;
Power supply - Enermax Maxtytan 1250W
RAM - G.SKILL Ripjaws 2x16GB.
And it looked like this:
