Thanks to a crash fix in the RPCS3 emulator and a change to Vblank Frequency settings, Heavenly Sword is now fully playable at 4K and 60 FPS.
Late last night, the developers behind the PlayStation 3 emulator RPCS3 dropped a new, short video on their YouTube channel detailing recent fixes and improvements to the software.
The video's description notes that developer kd-11 addressed a critical 'Out of video memory' crash back in the June build of RPCS3. This fix significantly improved stability for both Heavenly Sword and Resistance: Fall of Man.

To get one of PlayStation 3's earliest exclusives running at 60 FPS on RPCS3, simply right-click the game icon and select "Create custom configuration." If you've already made custom settings, choose "Change custom configuration" instead. Then, navigate to the "Advanced settings" tab and slide the "Vblank Frequency" parameter to 120Hz.
Assuming your hardware can handle 60 frames per second – think a Core i7-8700K/Core i9-9900K or Ryzen 5-3600X/Ryzen 7-3800X CPU – Heavenly Sword should run flawlessly at 60 FPS after these tweaks.
