Update 1.19 for Red Dead Redemption 2 (PC) enhances texture rendering, resolves graphics and memory issues, and expands the TAA sharpening range.
Update 1.19 brings some pretty significant changes, improvements, and most importantly, fixes for existing problems and bugs:
The game now has improved texture rendering for medium and high-quality settings. This update boosts texture detail without impacting frame rates or demanding more system resources (VRAM and RAM).
The maximum range for TAA sharpening has been increased. Players can now make the game less blurry, achieving a quality level comparable to external drivers.
Fixed an issue where some system configurations reported an incorrect amount of available VRAM for the game.
Addressed issues with game resource caching that caused graphical artifacts and a missing user interface after a graphics card upgrade (or replacement).
A rendering issue with flickering textures near campfires has been resolved when the 'Parallax Occlusion Mapping' graphics setting was set to Ultra quality.
Fixed a lighting problem that caused shadow textures to appear around the player. These textures could show up on some systems when the Parallax Occlusion Mapping graphics setting was on Ultra quality.
Among all the changes, the update to texture rendering and compression is particularly important. Previously, the game truly suffered from unsatisfactory visuals with textures set to 'medium' and 'high'. While the situation has improved somewhat now, these aren't truly drastic changes.
