Luumi tops the Intel Core i7-4790K overclocking leaderboard

You have to admire the sheer productivity of Finnish overclocker Luumi. In just over a week, the enthusiast grabbed six records in the Core 2 Duo E6750 category and snatched first place in the GeForce RTX 3090 rankings from his Greek rival, OGS. Not resting on his laurels, the Finn has just shared another impressive milestone today.

This time, Luumi targeted Intel's 4-core, 8-thread Core i7-4790K "Devil's Canyon" processor. Cooled with a liquid nitrogen pot, the CPU was pushed to a massive 6177 MHz (+54.43% over stock), which is highly impressive for the Haswell microarchitecture. Meanwhile, the DDR3 RAM was running at 2700 MHz with timings of 8-12-7-28-96.

This benchmarking session earned him gold for this CPU in the Cinebench - R15 discipline:

The enthusiast's test bench consisted of the following components:

• Motherboard: ASRock Z97 OC Formula (BIOS version L1.12D);

• RAM: Patriot 2500LL, 2 x 2 GB;
