Using liquid nitrogen, Finnish overclocker Luumi pushed the Intel Core i7-950 to its limits, setting four new records in its category.
Finnish overclocker Luumi (Alza OC team) has secured four gold medals in the Intel Core i7-950 rankings. This 8-thread monster from 2008 was cooled with liquid nitrogen and overclocked to ~5589 MHz. Meanwhile, the RAM ran at ~1920 MHz with ~6-8-6-20-60 1T timings. You can check out the detailed overclocking specs and benchmark results in the screenshots below, as well as in the summary table:
Benchmark: | Result: | CPU clock: | RAM clock: | RAM timings: |
wPrime 32m | 4 seconds 281 ms | 5562 MHz | 1934.4 MHz | 6-7-5-20-72 1T |
wPrime 1024m | 2 minutes 17 seconds 250 ms | 5507 MHz | 1915.4 MHz | 6-7-5-20-72 1T |
SuperPi - 1M | 7 seconds 109 ms | 5652 MHz | 1966.2 MHz | 6-8-6-20-60 1T |
SuperPi - 32M | 6 minutes 28 seconds 313 ms | 5589 MHz | 1940.2 MHz | 6-8-6-20-60 1T |
Luumi's test bench consisted of the following components:
Motherboard: ASUS Rampage III Black Edition;
RAM: three 2GB Corsair Dominator GT sticks;
CPU cooling: Kingpin Cooling T-REX;
Power supply: 1200W SuperNOVA G2.
