Overclocker Kolby_Powers revisits the Ryzen 5 3600X, setting two new records: 5675MHz in Cinebench R15 and 5650MHz in wPrime 1024m.
Recently, German overclocker Kolby_Powers has been focused on exploring the overclocking potential of the recently released Ryzen 3000XT (Matisse Refresh) processors, and it's fair to say he's been quite successful. However, new processors aren't abundant on the market yet, and good binning examples are likely even scarcer. So, Kolby_Powers returned to benchmarking his familiar AMD Ryzen 5 3600X.
This time, the overclocker got his hands on a much better 3600X sample. Using liquid nitrogen, it remained stable enough to successfully run Cinebench - R15 at 5675MHz, and then hit 5650MHz for the tougher wPrime - 1024m:
With these results, Kolby_Powers secured two gold medals in the Ryzen 5 3600X model rankings:
Benchmark | Score | CPU Frequency |
2255 points | 5675МГц | |
1min 10sec 174ms | 5650МГц |
Overall, these overclocked frequencies are generally the peak for first-generation Ryzen 3000 processors. However, given that hexa-core chips often use less ideal silicon, surpassing the results achieved by Kolby_Powers will be quite challenging.
The enthusiast's test bench comprised the following components:
Motherboard — ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Impact
RAM — 2x 8GB G.SKILL Trident Z (F4-4133C19-8GTZC)
Operating System — Windows 8.1 64-bit
