Overclocker TAGG took gold in the AMD Sempron 150 rankings, pushing the single-core CPU to 6525 MHz using liquid nitrogen.
Today was a productive day for top overclockers. First, Splave took gold in the Intel Core i9-10900KF category and the 10-core rankings. Just a few hours later, Austrian overclocker TAGG claimed the top spot in the AMD Sempron 150 rankings. In case you think these achievements aren't on the same level, think again: Splave scored 149.4 points for his record, and TAGG was right behind him with 148.3 points.
As for the actual benchmark run, to test the AMD Sempron 150, TAGG chose a top-tier AM2+ motherboard, the GIGABYTE GA-MA790FX-DQ6. Using liquid nitrogen, standard for extreme overclocking, he pushed the chip to 6525 MHz and successfully ran the demanding wPrime - 1024m benchmark in 11 minutes, 52 seconds, and 796 ms:
According to TAGG, the chip almost completed the run at 6600 MHz, but he ran out of liquid nitrogen and had to call it a day. However, the enthusiast promised to revisit this particular Sempron 150 in the future to beat his own record.
TAGG's test bench consisted of the following components:
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-MA790FX-DQ6;
RAM: two 1 GB DDR2 Corsair Dominator sticks;
Graphics card: Zotac GeForce 9500GT;
Power supply: Corsair, unknown 1200W model.
