American overclocker Splave has broken his own records with the AMD Radeon HD 5870 graphics card, leveraging an Intel Core i9-10900K and liquid nitrogen.
Today, American overclocker Splave broke his own records for the classic AMD Radeon HD 5870 graphics card. Given the results' publication date, it's no surprise that Intel's new Core i9-10900K chip powered the enthusiast's efforts.
The processor was overclocked to 5300MHz using a liquid cooling system. However, for the Unigine Heaven - Xtreme benchmark, only 8 cores and 8 threads were active on the CPU. (Hyper-Threading and the extra two cores likely hindered performance.) Conversely, in 3DMark11 - Performance, the Core i9-10900K ran at its full 10-core, 20-thread configuration, also overclocked to 5300MHz.
For Unigine Heaven - Xtreme, the graphics card hit a substantial 1400MHz on the core and 5400MHz on the memory. For the comparatively 'lighter' 3DMark11 - Performance, these clocks increased further to 1440MHz GPU and 5400MHz GDDR5. Splave opted for liquid nitrogen to cool the AMD Radeon HD 5870 during these overclocks.
The Unigine Heaven score reached 1269.87 DX11 Marks:
