Italian overclocker Spl has set a new record in the HWBOT x265 4K benchmark, pushing a Core i3-12100 to an impressive 5535 MHz. This allowed the chip to achieve nearly 15 FPS in the demanding 4K test.
Italian overclocker Spl has secured a gold medal in the HWBOT x265 Benchmark - 4K discipline for the Intel Core i3-12100 processor category.
⤢ ВІДКРИТИBeyond his first-place finish in the model category, the enthusiast also achieved a respectable 14th position in the overall 4-core ranking within the same discipline. That's a strong showing, especially given the caliber of chips he was competing against.
⤢ ВІДКРИТИSpl pushed the Core i3-12100 to an impressive 5535 MHz, a remarkable feat for a CPU with a locked multiplier, representing a 67% increase over its base clock speed. This achievement was only possible with the GIGABYTE Z690 Aorus Tachyon motherboard, which is equipped with all the necessary features for overclocking non-K CPUs.
⤢ ВІДКРИТИUnfortunately, Intel hasn't yet released an unlocked Core i3 based on the Alder Lake architecture. This means overclockers are currently limited to LGA 1700-compatible motherboards featuring an external clock generator. This limitation somewhat curbs the 10nm CPU's overclocking potential, preventing it from reaching the theoretically possible 7000 MHz.
