South Korean overclocker Safedisk pushed the 32-core AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3970X to 5423 MHz, securing the top spot in the global 32-core rankings.
Korean enthusiast safedisk secured two solid results using an overclocked AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3970X, topping both the processor's individual category and the global 32-core standings.
The processor was cooled with an LN2 pot and mounted on a high-end ASUS ROG Zenith II Extreme Alpha motherboard. For RAM, the enthusiast used a solid kit of four 16GB G.SKILL Ripjaws V sticks, while a beefy 1250-watt Enermax MaxTytan power supply kept the power-hungry setup fed.
safedisk's benching session yielded a score of 23,817 points in Cinebench R20:
The test bench consisted of the following components:
Motherboard: ASUS ROG Zenith II Extreme Alpha;
RAM: four 16GB G.SKILL Ripjaws V sticks (64GB total);
Graphics card: GeForce GT 710;
Power supply: 1250W Enermax MaxTytan.
And it looked like this:
Looking closely at the second photo, you can see that with the 32-core chip overclocked to 5400 MHz, system power consumption hit an impressive 933 watts. That is, of course, if we trust the built-in wattage meter on the Enermax MaxTytan power supply.
