Hideo Kojima unveiled new Death Stranding trailers and details at Gamescom, covering Bridge Babies care, lullabies, and uniting cities. The game launches November 8.
Hideo Kojima debuted new trailers, gameplay footage, and fresh details for Death Stranding at Gamescom Opening Night Live.
First, check out the new character trailer for Bridge Baby and Deadman, played by Guillermo del Toro.
If you haven't been following the game, Bridge Babies are crucial for connecting with the world of the dead. According to Kojima, these infants aren't just an 'accessory'; players will form a bond with them and, as the gameplay footage below shows, will need to care for them. Occasionally, to soothe a crying BB, you'll have to rock it by 'swinging' your controller.
Here's another character trailer for 'Mama,' played by Margaret Qualley. Mama's baby was somehow born from the other side, in the world of the dead, but she's still connected by a magical umbilical cord. So yes, this game will delve quite deeply into the theme of birth...
And finally, a new gameplay snippet shows Norman Reedus's character Sam relieving himself, soothing a baby, and encountering a cameo by Geoff Keighley.

Crucially, Kojima also offered more key details about Death Stranding's core structure.
Your ultimate goal in the game is to reconnect fragmented American cities and their people from East to West. Along the way, you'll face various threats, including terrorists and 'BTs' (broken things), and encounter 'Preppers' (survivors) scattered across the world.
While Kojima didn't fully clarify how NPC interactions will function, he did state that you'll also communicate with real-world players. He hinted at teaming up for unique objectives, like a group of people peeing in the same spot to grow a giant mushroom. Yes, that's a real example he gave.
Death Stranding launches on PS4 November 8.
