To say American enthusiasts have taken processor overclocking seriously in the new year is an understatement. Just recently, a stunning 8-core CPU record was set by overclocker Splave. Now, barely a day later, his compatriot bigblock990 has claimed gold in the 4-core category:
⤢ ВІДКРИТИThe American enthusiast armed himself with an Intel Core i7-7740X chip — a rather unpopular choice among regular users — along with liquid nitrogen and an ASRock X299 OC Formula motherboard, then pushed the processor to 7018 MHz:
⤢ ВІДКРИТИSuch a high clock speed allowed bigblock990 to achieve a very strong result in the GPUPI for CPU - 1B benchmark: 3 minutes, 31 seconds, and 738 milliseconds.
⤢ ВІДКРИТИFellow enthusiasts noted that bigblock990's result was exceptionally strong and simply crushing. And there's no arguing with that, as surpassing this new record will require at least a better CPU sample and several weeks of experimentation.
