American overclocker ShrimpBrime pushed Intel's budget Celeron G6900 processor to 5261 MHz, setting a new record in the y-cruncher benchmark.
The HWBot overclocking database just received a fascinating entry: American overclocker ShrimpBrime completed the y-cruncher - Pi-1b benchmark in 1 minute, 20 seconds, and 914 milliseconds, taking the top spot for the Intel Celeron G6900 dual-core processor.
⤢ ВІДКРИТИOverclocking budget LGA1700-compatible CPUs with a locked multiplier presents a crucial challenge: you absolutely need a motherboard equipped with an external clock generator, a feature not many boards possess. ShrimpBrime overcame this by using the relatively affordable ASUS ROG Strix B660-G Gaming Wifi. This particular board's BIOS allows for BCLK frequency adjustments within the necessary ranges and offers pretty good DDR5 memory overclocking capabilities.
This allowed the American overclocker to push the Celeron G6900 chip to a rather impressive 5261 MHz, securing a gold medal in the processor's model ranking.
⤢ ВІДКРИТИThe RAM frequency hit 5776 MHz with CL36.0 36-36-66 1T timings. That's a remarkably significant overclocking result for a budget dual-core CPU.
