Overclocker Safedisk pushed the Xeon w5 2465X to an insane 5300 MHz, securing the top spot in 16-core benchmark rankings and beating the Ryzen 9 7950X.
Korean overclocker Safedisk recently updated his profile picture, a photo that hadn't changed in over a decade. Simultaneously, the enthusiast secured a significant achievement: first place in the 16-core rankings.
By overclocking the semi-professional Xeon w5 2465X chip (Sapphire Rapids, Intel 7, 16 cores / 32 threads) to 5300 MHz, Safedisk managed to outperform a Ryzen 9 7950X, boosted to 6150 MHz, in the y-cruncher - Pi-1b benchmark. Admittedly, this was an uneven fight, given the Xeon's advantages of quad-channel DDR5 memory and a more advanced memory controller. Still, the achievement stands.

The test bench was based on the top-tier ASUS Pro WS W790E-SAGE SE motherboard, with Safedisk opting for a kit of four G.SKILL Zeta R5 modules for RAM.
This is a highly significant result, as it directly showcases the LGA4677 platform's potential in the competitive scene.
As a side note, Sapphire Rapids chips utilize the Golden Cove microarchitecture, which is also found in Alder Lake desktop processors.
