British overclocker K0obies set a new record in the GPUPI - 1B benchmark, pushing a Radeon RX 580 to an impressive 2000/7000 MHz with liquid nitrogen.
British overclocker K0obies set a new record in the AMD Radeon RX 580 4GB category, specifically in the relatively popular GPUPI - 1B benchmark.
For cooling, K0obies used liquid nitrogen, a common choice for extreme overclocking. This allowed him to push the graphics card to 2000MHz (+59.11% over the stock GPU clock) / 7000MHz (-12.50% over the stock GDDR5 clock). Notably, the GPU voltage was raised to a relatively safe 1.320 volts (compared to the stock 1.150 volts), while its temperature dropped to -168 degrees Celsius.
However, keep in mind that this voltage is only "safe" when paired with extreme cooling solutions like liquid nitrogen or dry ice. Exceeding 1.320 volts with the stock cooling system is strictly not recommended.
Successfully completing the GPUPI - 1B benchmark earned the enthusiast a result of 22 seconds and 307 milliseconds, securing a gold medal in the Radeon RX 580 category:
K0obies' test bench consisted of the following components:
Processor - AMD Ryzen 9 [email protected], effectively matching its boost clocks;
Motherboard - ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Impact;
Graphics card - AFOX Radeon RX 580.
