About six months ago, the guys at Wargaming first mentioned future ray tracing support in their own game engine, enCore. And today, you can download the tech demo and test the new visual effects on your computer.
As strange as it may seem, to run World of Tanks enCore RT Demo you need a regular DX11 compatible video card. In other words, no GeForce RTX.
The ray tracing implementation in the enCore engine was done through the Intel Embree library (part of OneAPI) and is compatible with all DirectX 11 graphics cards.
And this is just amazing. Indeed, quite recently, Raja Koduri spoke precisely about such software and hardware methods for implementing ray tracing.
At the moment, in World of Tanks enCore RT, shadows are being improved using ray tracing. Below you can see the changes in graphics:
