The Belarusian development team continues to improve the engine of their own development “Core” and after the introduction of multithreading, they took up the development of Ray Tracing technology (ray tracing).

With the addition of RT Shadows to the game (a technology developed by Wargaming in close cooperation with Intel), we will be able to recreate the “main characters” of our game in a higher quality; The smallest details will cast incredibly lifelike shadows when exposed to sunlight. RT Shadows will provide even more immersion in the atmosphere of a tank battle and more enjoyable gaming experience.

RT Shadow technology will work on all graphics cards that support API DirectX 11 and above, but only for equipment that has not been destroyed and is in direct sunlight. You can enable or disable this feature in the game settings. Support for new shadows on vehicles will be added in the next updates after testing.

Based on Wargaming’s words, we end up with one of the most affordable ray tracing implementations out there. It is noteworthy that to run the game with “RT-shadows”, gamers do not need a video card from a certain manufacturer, but anyone with support for ray tracing will do.

It is clear that at the moment only NVIDIA video cards have this technology, but referring to information from WG Fest, the Belarusian company is working in partnership with Intel. This instills much more confidence in the new technology because before that the partnership with Intel bore fruit and World of Tanks began to work much better (and, who would have thought, not only on Intel processors).

Ray Tracing shadows will be added in the next updates. Presumably until the end, or early next year.
