Back in July, we wrote about a possible release of the Ryzen 9 3900 chip without the “X” prefix with a limited thermal package of 65 watts. And today this information has found its first real confirmation.

Support for the Ryzen 9 3900 chip was included in the latest BIOS update for the Biostar X470NH motherboard.

Like the Ryzen 9 3900X, its younger brother Ryzen 9 3900 is content with the same 12 cores and 24 threads. Nevertheless, in order to keep within 65 watts, the clock frequencies were slightly lowered: the base value is 3100 MHz, and in turbo mode, it rises to 4300 MHz. For comparison Ryzen 9 3900X this formula is 3800/4600MHz. Other characteristics of the processor remain the same as in the older model.

It remains only to find out the price of the new CPU. Although, given its specifics, it will clearly not be small.

It is likely that the new chip will debut in November, alongside the ultimate Ryzen 9 3950X.
