Following the Core i3, apparently, Intel will add Hyper Threading to the Core i5. Recently, an unknown engineering sample of a 10-generation Core processor was spotted in the Sisoftware database.

The core configuration of this CPU turned out to be extremely similar to the 8th generation Core i7 processors. In other words – 6 cores, 12 threads. And this is the main proof of its belonging to the Core i5 line. Modern Core i7s are 8-core stones without multithreading support. And here we can only speculate.

The engineering sample of the new CPU is almost an exact copy of the 8th generation Core i7. The only exceptions are frequencies of 2 GHz. But by release they will obviously be much higher.

Chances are high that we are dealing with the new Core i5. And if this leak is confirmed, then we will expect a Core i5 with a core configuration of 6 cores, 12 threads, and a Core i7 with 8 cores, 16 threads.

Recall that recently we wrote about the Core i3-10100 with a core configuration of 4 cores, 8 threads.

Of course, we still have to wait for the 10th Gen Core i7 specs, but given the pressure from AMD, the i7 will also get HT. Thus, Intel can really slow down the pace of the “red” and regain the lost position.
