AMD‘s corporate blog posted a note yesterday by Rick Bergman, AMD’s executive vice president, in which he reveals that AMD will offer its high-performance Ryzen 4000 desktop processors based on the Zen 3 (Vermeer) architecture before the end of this year.
I would like to note that this is the second confirmation of AMD’s readiness to provide turnkey solutions based on the Zen 3 architecture by the end of 2020. Earlier, AMD CEO Lisa Su said something similar.
In an entry on AMD’s corporate blog, Rick Bergman says AMD will continue its “high-performance journey” with Zen 3-based client processors and that we haven’t seen the best of them yet.
Moreover, this statement is quite easy to believe, because according to the latest information, Zen 3 chips will be based on an improved 7nm+ technical process, and will also bring a 15-25% increase in IPC (instructions per clock).
AMD already has the first fully functioning Zen 3 chips running in the company’s test labs, as AMD CEO Lisa Su recently told us about. According to her, the architecture looks great.
We can only hope that the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic will in no way affect the release date of high-performance Ryzen 4000 processors (Zen 3, Vermeer) and these chips will actually see the light of day before the end of this year.
