On October 31, NVIDIA’s Twitter account posted screenshots from Red Dead Redemption 2 with the RTX logo in its lower right corner. In this regard, many specialized portals, including us, suggested that this could mean support for the popular NVIDIA technology in the new game from Rockstar.
But unfortunately, or fortunately, everything turned out to be completely different.
In their own Twitter, NVIDIA employees hastened to calm the overexcited public and explained that this logo means only the promotion of RTX graphics cards. The PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 will not support the newfangled RTX technology.
In fact, this is quite an interesting situation, because, in the past, NVIDIA itself used the RTX logo in order to inform the public on which of the shown images was involved in ray tracing and which was not.
Whether this was an oversight on the part of the company, or a premeditated cunning PR move is unknown. However, whatever one may say, it did not work out very well.
