CES 2020 never ceases to delight. Yesterday, Chinese mobile SoC maker MediaTek revealed the specs of its new Dimensity 800 5G processor.
The new chip is aimed at mid-range smartphones and is designed to bring support for fifth-generation mobile networks.
Dimensity 800 5G is the 8-core processor. The SoC configuration is as follows: 4 powerful cores are based on the relatively recent ARM Cortex-A76 architecture, and the remaining 4 economical ones are based on the simpler ARM Cortex-A55. As graphically, MediaTek used the ARM Mali-G77 video accelerator.
The main competitors of the future SoC are Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G and HiSilicon Kirin 990 5G chips, but the new product from MediaTek promises to be much cheaper. And if you take into account the special conditions of the Chinese developer for domestic smartphone manufacturers, Dimensity 800 5G will be a great success.
