Electronic Arts beat Take-Two Interactive’s past $ 980 million bid and acquired renowned game developer Codemasters for an impressive $ 1.2 billion. Thus, in the current portfolio of EA added racing series: DiRT, GRID, Project Cars and F1 will now coexist with Need for Speed.

Officially, the deal between the two giants will be completed only in the first quarter of next year. However, this “merger” will not particularly affect the current management of the company: the top managers of Codemasters will keep their jobs and become employees of EA.

Additionally, we recall: Codemasters is a British game developer and publisher specializing in the production of fairly sophisticated racing simulators. Codemasters currently own the following franchises: Dirt, F1, Grid, OnRush, FIA World Racing Championship (WRC), Project Cars, and Fast & Furious Crossroads.
