The 6GHz barrier for DDR4 has been taken! The record for the frequency of RAM for all its types has been updated today.

Taiwanese overclocker Toppc took the gold from the previous record-holder Kovan Yang by overclocking one bar of G.SKILL Trident Z Royal (G.Skill 8192 MB, P / N: F4-4800C19-8GTRSB) to a frequency of 3008.4 MHz (effective frequency was 6016 MHz).

To achieve such an impressive result, the Taiwanese enthusiast used the same motherboard as the Kovan Yang, namely the MSI MPG Z390I GAMING EDGE AC (MS-7C04).

The engineering sample of the Core i9 9900K processor was overclocked to a frequency of 816.21MHz, however, like the RAM strips, it was cooled with liquid nitrogen. It is also worth noting that 6 out of 8 cores and Hyper Threading technology were disabled for the processor.

In the comments to his record, Toppc indicated that the DDR4 G.SKILL Trident Z Royal used was based on Hynix chips, which surprised some of his colleagues.
