Originally, the 4-core, 4-thread Ryzen 3 1200 processor was manufactured according to the 14nm process technology on the Zen architecture, but recently there have been reports that this chip has moved to the 12nm process technology for the Zen + architecture.
The updated CPU has the same labeling differences as the recently released Ryzen 5 1600 AF: YD1200BBM4KAFBOX for the new Ryzen 3 1200 and YD1200BBM4KAEBOX for the old.
Overall, it’s hard to say how profitable a 4-core, 4-thread processor is in 2020, even if it’s based on 12nm. In our opinion, it is much more profitable to pay a little more and take the same 6-core, 12-thread Ryzen 5 1600 AF.
Nevertheless, it is difficult to argue with the fact that perhaps for some enthusiasts the new Ryzen 3 1200 AF can be a good “plug” for a while before buying powerful flagship solutions based on the Zen 2 architecture.
