In an official press release, MSI has confirmed that the entire line of 400 series motherboards will support the AMD Ryzen 5000 family of Zen 3-based desktop processors.

MSI representatives have assured their customers that they are fully committed to supporting 400 series motherboards based on X470 and B450 chipsets. The company’s entire product line described above will be ready to support AMD Ryzen 5000 desktop processors, which will go on sale on November 5, 2020. But it should be understood that BIOS for 400-series motherboards will be released only in January 2021. So those who want to install a Ryzen 5000 chip in their “400” board will have to wait a bit.

With regard to motherboards based on 300 chipsets, including the X370, B350, and A320, AMD’s current official position on this matter is clear: the company is not going to support older motherboards. However, if there are any changes in AMD’s plans, MSI will also try to provide timely BIOS updates for owners of motherboards based on X370, B350, and A320 chipsets.
