AMD today confirmed that it will launch a 64-core Threadripper model for its TRX40 HEDT platform as early as next year, according to reliable source from VideoCardz.

AMD’s future flagship Ryzen Threadripper 3990X will carry a whopping 288MB of L3 cache on board, and its power consumption will fit within 280 watts. The future chip is likely to cost a lot more than the 3970X (which will be available from today for $ 1999). But this is not surprising, because in fact, under the cover of the 3990X, there are twice as many active crystals as in the 3970X.

Funnily enough, another rumor about AMD’s 64-core monster leaked on the day the 10th Gen Intel Core line was released.
