Gigabyte and Sapphire Unveil their Versions of Radeon RX 6800 XT and Radeon RX 6800 Graphics Cards

AMD’s manufacturing partners continue to showcase their own versions of the newly unveiled Radeon RX 6800 XT and Radeon RX 6800 video cards. This time, images of graphics adapters from Gigabyte and Sapphire have appeared online. And unfortunately, we hasten to inform you that both vendors are currently not going to please their fans with their own developments based on the GPU “Big Navi”, but will only confine themselves to the announcement of the reference versions of the Radeon RX 6800 XT and Radeon RX 6800 in the title colors of the companies.

Gigabyte was the first to introduce reference variants of the Radeon RX 6800 series, priced at $ 679 and $ 549, for the Radeon RX 6800 XT and Radeon RX 6800, respectively. As noted above, the cards completely copy the AMD reference design.

In fact, the same applies to the versions from Sapphire, which, by the way, is very strange, because it is Sapphire that is almost the most important and long-standing partner of AMD. However, this company is currently limited to just a copy of the reference:

Just in case, let’s recall the official specifications of the cards from AMD:

At the heart of the Radeon RX 6800 XT is the Navi 21 XT GPU, which has 72 compute units for a total of 4608 stream processors. The card has 16 GB of video memory of the GDDR6 standard at a frequency of 16 GHz with a 256-bit interface, which allows us to speak of a theoretical bandwidth of 512 GB/s. The GPU clock is set to 2015 MHz and can automatically rise to 2250 MHz.

In addition, AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT contains 72 blocks that are designed for hardware acceleration of ray tracing in real-time. The card will have a base TBP (consumption of the entire card) of 300 watts.

The younger Radeon RX 6800 will feature a more stripped-down Navi 21 XL GPU with 60 active compute units (and 60 ray tracing units) giving us 3,840 stream processors. The GPU Radeon RX 6800 will have a gaming clock speed of 1815 MHz, and at maximum auto overclocking it will be able to reach 2105 MHz.

The Radeon RX 6800 has the same 16GB of GDDR6 video memory with a frequency of 16GHz and a 256-bit interface, which in theory equals the same bandwidth as the Radeon RX 6800 XT – 512 GB/s. The TBP of the RX 6800 card at base frequencies should not exceed 250 watts.

The timing of the appearance of the above-described models from Gigabyte and Sapphire is still unknown. Nevertheless, officially, the start of sales of AMD Radeon RX 6800 is scheduled for November 18th. The Radeon RX 6800 XT will retail for $ 649 and the Radeon RX 6800 will retail for $ 579.
